IFT First

The SPI Group team has just returned from IFT FIRST in Chicago.  If you were there, you may have seen us talking about natural protection in meat and poultry solutions at the Prosur booth or with our partners at the Saltwell booth.

During the IFT FIRST keynote, Jim Jones, deputy commissioner of Human Foods at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), highlighted the agency's commitment to integrating innovation and technology into federal food safety regulation and policy. It was interesting to hear about FDA's efforts in utilizing AI to improve food safety, as well as the updates to the guidance to reduce sodium in commercially processed, packaged and prepared food.

At the Saltwell booth, we had a lot of interest from attendees who are interested in lowering sodium in their products ahead of Canada's Food and Drug Regulations (FDR) requiring front-of-package (FOP) nutrition labeling for most prepackaged foods that contain certain nutrients at or above specified levels.  These nutrients include saturated fat, sugars, and/or sodium.

If you are considering sodium reduction, Saltwell is an ideal solution! Unlike typical table salt, which often undergoes chemical processing, Saltwell is harvested through a natural evaporation process that results in a lower sodium content while preserving all the trace minerals and flavor that make sea salt so beloved. With 35% less sodium, Saltwell offers full flavor of your favorite dishes without worrying about excessive sodium intake.

At SPIGROUP, we believe in offering products that not only meet the highest standards of quality but also contribute to a healthier lifestyle. Contact us today to hear more about our full portfolio of ingredient solutions!
